Laurentic , Laurentic , Laurentic šŸ›„āš“ļø

Our main focus in Transition Year this year, was The Laurentic Ship. The reason we got so invested in The Laurentic this year was due to the simple reason that it’s 100 years since the ship sank off coast of Fanad Head & we thought well why not become a part of the commenmoration along with family members of the people on the ship that night and people that have been interested in the story since it’s been told throughout the years..

We created pictures, maps, information sheets, poems and posters to do with the Laurentic and on Friday get to show off our work to the family members.

After that we will travel to the Guildhall in Derry for lunch and that night the media team ( after all their weeks of training ) will interview the family members at The Laurentic Restaurant also known as “The Ship” !

It has been wonderful being involved in such an outstanding piece of history and I’m very glad we got this opportunity thanks to our TY co-ordinator Ms Bradley with the help of fellow teachers.
